I stayed up late last night. : 어젯밤 늦게까지 안 잤어.


-> 'stay up'이란 '늦은 시간까지 자지 않고 깨어 있다'라는 뜻으로 주로 뒤에 'late' 혹은 'till + 시간'이 온다. 예를 들어 'She stayed up till 3 o'clock talking on the phone.'이라고 하면 '그녀는 어제 3시까지 자지 않고 전화 통화를 했어'라는 뜻이 된다.



예문)

A : You look very tired today. Are you all right?
     너 오늘 너무 피곤해 보인다. 괜찮아?


B : Yes, I stayed up late last night working on my research paper.
    응, 어젯밤에 보고서를 쓰느라고 늦게까지 안 잤거든.

cram : 벼락치기 공부를 하다

  그는 내일 시험을 위해 벼락치기를 하고 있다.
